Boiler № 5 at the Northern power station, VKG Energia

The boiler that was initially using oil shale as fuel. The modernization of its management system started when it was transferred to gas. Just like all our boilers with two types of fuel, it has four burners – two for oil shale and two for gas. The main type of fuel is low calorific gas, which is combined with oil shale or natural gas whenever required.

The management system is based on two WINCON controllers (IPC2U supply). 26 electronic regulators ВТС 9300 are operating together with the controllers. Visual representation, interface with the operator, and the coordination of management tasks are implemented on three computers, two which are industrial computers and a computer of the technologist. These tasks are implemented through Scada TraceMode system. The information about a technological mode enters the common database at the Northern station of VKG ENERGIA.

Boiler № 8 at the Northern power station, VKG Energia 

The management system for this boiler was developed before similar systems for all other boilers. The main type of fuel is low calorific gas, which is combined with oil shale or natural gas whenever required. The management system is based on two Mitsubishi FX2 controllers and one YUMO controller. 28 electronic regulators ВТС 9300 are operating together with the controllers.

Visual representation, interface with the operator, and the coordination of management tasks are implemented on a separate computer that is connected with all of the controllers and regulators. The tasks are implemented through Scada TraceMode system. The information about a technological mode enters the common database at the Northern station of VKG ENERGIA.

Controllers and the computer system unit are located within the housing of the console box, which also holds terminal blocks, power units, relay switches, and other automation elements.

Boilers № 6 and 7 at the Northern power station, VKG Energia

These boilers have similar technical properties and management structure as well as computer software. The main type of fuel is low calorific gas, which is combined with oil shale or natural gas whenever required.

Each boiler has its own console box for submitting information to operating staff. The management system is based on four WINCON controllers (IPC2U supply).  The controllers are installed in special cabinets outside of the operator’s room. On the console box, there are three panel computers for the visual representation of the process, interface with the operator, and management task coordination. The technologist’s computer is located separately. All four computer are completely interchangeable, and the processes can be managed from any of them.

The tasks are implemented through Scada TraceMode system. On the console box of the computer, there are keys and light-emitting of the equipment management operating system (smoke exhauster, fan, oil shale mills, motor operated valves). Turbines Т2, Т3, Т4 at the Northern power station, VKG Energia

The systems are meant for managing the operation of turbines, the alarm system, and shutdown protection. They are built on two WINCON controllers. In order to increase the reliability, some parameters (axial thrust control, rotation speed control, power output calculation) are lined up to their local microcontrollers, which submit information to the upper level of the RS-485 interface.
